How to draw a party cat
This cat has been to a party and is ready for a nap. In 14 easy steps you’ll draw a big round head, a tiny party hat, two sleepy eyes and a round little body, using a pencil and paper. There are no guide lines: every line you draw stays.
How do you draw a party cat?
To draw a party cat, start with a big round head, beginning at the top with a little dip where the hat sits. Add two pointy ears with a smaller point inside each, then a tiny party hat with a ball on top. Draw two big round eyes halfway down, each with a sleepy line across and a tall oval hanging from it, then a little triangle nose, round cheeks and whiskers. Below the head, draw the front legs and paws, a round back that comes down level with the paws, and a long tail. Add a few fur lines, go over the outside a little harder, and colour in the eyes, leaving the shine white. It takes 14 easy steps with a pencil and paper.

Step 1 of 14
A big round head
Let's draw a sleepy party cat. Start with a big round head: begin at the top, with a little dip in the middle where the hat will sit, then go all the way round, back to where you started.
-
Step 2 of 14
Two pointy ears
From where you started, go up to a point and back down to the head for an ear, with a smaller point inside. Then the other ear on the left, the same way.
-
Step 3 of 14
A party hat
Now a tiny party hat. From the top of the head, a line up to a point and a line back down, then a little ball on top.
-
Step 4 of 14
The first eye
Halfway down, on the left, a big round eye with a sleepy line across. Then a tall oval from the line, down, round and back up, with a little shine circle inside near its top.
-
Step 5 of 14
The second eye
Now the other eye on the right, at the same height and size, with a nose-sized gap between. The sleepy line, then the oval hanging from it, and its shine.
-
Step 6 of 14
Nose and mouth
A little triangle nose, and a short line down from it. Then two round cheeks, one each side, and a small chin underneath.
-
Step 7 of 14
Whiskers
Whiskers out from the cheeks: two little ones and three long ones on this side. Then the same on the other side.
-
Step 8 of 14
The front legs
Below the nose, a little way under the head, a front leg: down, round the paw and up, with two toes. A line from the chin to it, and the other leg and toes behind.
-
Step 9 of 14
The round back
A round back: from behind the head, over and down to the ground, level with the paws, round the back foot. A curve up from the foot, a line between the legs, and two toes.
-
Step 10 of 14
The tail
A long tail: out from the body, round the end, and back underneath.
-
Step 11 of 14
A little fur
Three little fur lines on the chest, and two on the back.
-
Step 12 of 14
Go over the head
Now press a bit harder round the outside, so your cat stands out: first the little ball, then up the right side of the head, over the ears and hat, and down the left.
-
Step 13 of 14
Go over the body
Then press harder down the back, all the way round the tail, along the bottom and round the paws, up to the chin.
-
Step 14 of 14
Colour in the eyes
Last of all, colour in each tall oval below its sleepy line, but leave its little shine white.

Tips for a better party cat
Start at the top of the head
Begin the head at the top, make a little dip where the hat will sit, then go all the way round, back to where you started.
Eyes at the same height
Put the second eye level with the first, with a nose-sized gap between them.
Paws on one line
Bring the round back down to the ground level with the front paws, so your cat sits steady.
Press harder at the end
Go round the outside once more, pressing a bit harder, and your cat stands out from the page.
Questions
Is this cat easy to draw?
Yes. It’s made for little ones: big round shapes, no guide lines to rub out, and each step adds one simple thing. If reading is hard, the draw-along says each step out loud while it draws.
What do I need?
A pencil and paper. There are no guide lines, so you only need an eraser if you want to fix a line.
How do I draw the sleepy eyes?
A big round eye with a line across it near the top: that’s the sleepy lid. Then a tall oval hanging down from the line, with a little shine circle inside. At the very end, colour each oval in and leave the shine white.
Can kids draw it?
Yes. It’s one of the easiest drawings in DrawRabbit, with big shapes a young child can manage.
