About DrawRabbit

Made by Mike Lewis

DrawRabbit is an app for iPhone and iPad that teaches you to draw with a real pencil and paper. A narrator talks you through each drawing one line at a time while it’s drawn on the screen, and you copy it as you go: 95 drawings of cute animals in 10 worlds, from a bunny in the meadow to a baby dragon hatching from its egg.

Who makes it

DrawRabbit is made by Mike Lewis. It’s built for anyone who has never been shown how a drawing is actually put together, one simple line after another.

How the lessons work

Every drawing is broken down the way you’d draw it on paper. You start with a few light guide shapes, usually circles, that get the size and the pose right. Then you draw the outline over them a part at a time, rub the guides out, go over the outline more firmly, and finish with shading. The narrator explains each line as it appears, so you always know what to draw next.

The drawing guides on this site come from the same lessons. Their step pictures are drawn by the app’s own lesson player, with each step’s new lines in colour and everything before it faded, and the draw-along on every guide is the app’s real narrated lesson, free in your browser.
